Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

PRDA's WASH programs drill and rehabilitate boreholes to bring safe drinking water within reach of communities that previously relied on unprotected rivers and ponds, cutting the walking distance — and the health risks — that fall disproportionately on women and children. Latrine construction at households, schools, and health facilities follows the same goal: reducing preventable disease at its source.

Infrastructure alone isn't enough, so PRDA pairs it with hygiene kit distribution and community awareness campaigns on handwashing, safe water storage, and sanitation practices. These campaigns are typically led by trained community hygiene promoters, so the behavior change is locally owned and continues long after a project ends.
