Event Description

The Presbyterian Relief and Development Agency (PRDA) is proud to celebrate the graduation of the third batch of nurses and midwives from the Presbyterian Health Science Institute (PHSI) — a milestone moment for the graduates, their families, and the communities they will go on to serve.

After three years of rigorous academic study and hands-on clinical training, 65 graduates will receive their diplomas in Nursing and Midwifery, joining a growing generation of skilled South Sudanese health professionals trained right here at home.

In a country where access to qualified healthcare remains extremely limited — and where mothers and children bear the heaviest burden — every trained nurse and midwife represents lives saved. PHSI graduates are deployed to hospitals, health centers, and rural clinics across South Sudan, where they play a frontline role in reducing maternal and child mortality, strengthening local health systems, and restoring hope in underserved communities.

This graduation is more than a ceremony. It is a testimony to what is possible when faith, education, and community come together. It reflects PRDA's mission to address the social and physical needs of the people of South Sudan with a strong focus on health and human dignity, and the enduring commitment of the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (PCOSS), our partners, and our donors who make this training possible.

The ceremony will feature:

• The official conferral of diplomas in Nursing and Midwifery

• The nurses' and midwives' pledge and candle-lighting ceremony

• Keynote addresses from PRDA leadership, PCOSS church leaders, and invited dignitaries from the Ministry of Health and partner organizations

• Testimonies from graduates and alumni now serving in health facilities across the country

• Prayers, worship, and cultural performances celebrating the graduates' achievements
